RoboCup 2024 brought the global robotics community to Eindhoven, and Avular was proud to participate in this special hometown edition. As one of the world’s leading robotics competitions, RoboCup highlights advances in autonomous systems through challenges such as robot football, rescue, logistics and education.
RoboCup is an international initiative designed to accelerate robotics and AI research through competition-based development. University and research teams worldwide build autonomous robots that must operate, decide and collaborate without human control. The event promotes robotics research in an accessible, collaborative, and inspiring way, with the long-term goal of developing robots capable of performing increasingly complex real-world tasks.
This year, the event returned to Eindhoven, for a special edition hosted in the heart of Brainport’s innovation ecosystem.
Showcasing the Origin One and Vertex One
Throughout the event, Avular hosted a booth outside the Tech Dome, showcasing the Origin One and Vertex One. Visitors could take part in the Origin Racetrack Challenge, a hands-on activity that drew a constant crowd. With a fastest lap of 40 seconds, the race offered a playful way to experience the precision and responsiveness of Avular’s modular platforms.
Trustees event at Avular
RoboCup 2024 also gave Avular the unique honor of hosting 14 RoboCup Trustees at our headquarters. These leading figures, who have shaped RoboCup’s development for decades, joined us for an evening dedicated to the future of robotics.
The program featured a thought-provoking discussion led by Avular’s technical lead, Joris, exploring the question: Should robots adapt to their environment, or should the environment adapt to the robot?
Maarten Steinbuch followed with a talk on the importance of translating academic innovation into real-world robotics. The evening offered valuable exchanges between international researchers and the local ecosystem.
A strong week for robotics
RoboCup 2024 concluded with Eindhoven University of Technology’s Tech United becoming world champions in the Middle Size League for the eighth time.
The event brought valuable conversations, new connections and renewed energy to the robotics community. Thanks to everyone who visited our booth or joined us during the week.
