At Avular, we are looking for a new colleague to join our wonderful team. As a Low-Level Control Engineer, you will help shape the brains of our robots by developing the flight controller for the Vertex and the drive controller for the Origin. You’ll be responsible for designing, implementing, and testing control algorithms that ensure stability, precision, and adaptability in real-world environments.
YOUR MISSION
You will focus on low-level control, everything between receiving sensor data and commanding actuators. At the same time, you’ll work closely with colleagues developing higher-level functions such as path planning, mission execution, and vision-based localization, ensuring smooth integration across the full robotics stack.
Designing and implementing control loops (attitude, position, velocity), as well as sensor filtering and state estimation;
Contributing to our flight and drive controller codebase, primarily using MATLAB/Simulink;
Developing customer-specific features to meet client requirements;
Testing and validating features in our in-house testing facilities, including outdoor areas and a 20-meter-tall indoor flying hall, as well as on-site in diverse real-world environments (forests, agricultural fields, offshore sites, industrial facilities);
Collaborating with software and control engineers working on higher-level planning and localization to ensure seamless integration with your algorithms;
Analysing sensor data and test logs to validate features and troubleshoot issues;
Documenting designs, implementation details, and test results clearly and thoroughly.
WHO YOU ARE
You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Control Systems (or a closely related field);
You have experience with implementing control algorithms on hardware (internships, projects, or professional roles);
You are comfortable with working in multidisciplinary teams with project leads, software engineers, and hardware engineers;
You have strong communication skills in English (spoken and written);
You have passion for mobile robotics and autonomous systems;
Bonus points if:
You have experience with software tools such as Git, Jira, or Confluence;
You bring professional experience in robotics or control systems (but we also welcome motivated graduates).
